The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine how physical disabilities impact the experience of college students. Issues including physical accessibility, support services, and the transition from high school to college were also explored. Data were collected through qualitative interviews, which were analyzed for thematic content. Themes that emerged were related to the types of accommodations that students received, barriers in transitioning from high school to college, the attitudes of faculty and non-disabled students, continued physical accessibility issues that impact the lives of college students with disabilities, the importance of natural supports and spirituality in success, additional time and stress associated with disability, and positive aspects related to disability status.
